The SPL technology is protected by the patent family “Artificial promoter libraries for selected organisms and promoters derived from such libraries” (International PCT no. WO 9807846) (Jensen and Hammer, 1998c), and applications have been filed for patents in USA, Europe (EP), Australia, Japan, and China.

Licensing

The Synthetic Promoter Library (SPL) Technology is an excellent genetic tool which allows for an easy modulation of gene expression in any organism. The technology is relevant for companies and research institutions working in the field of metabolic engineering, production of proteins, experimental metabolic control analysis etc.

Biotechnological companies can get non-exclusive access to the SPL technology for use in Research and Development through licenses.

For commercial use of the SPL technology in fermentation processes a contract between the company and Fermenco must be formed.
